The CancerClimber Association is a unique, not-for-profit organization dedicated to motivating those living with cancer by encouraging patients to inspire each other. Created through Sean Swarner's vision of summitting Everest and inspiring people across all boundaries, CancerClimber challenges and facilitates cancer survivors to climb their own Everest, thus overcoming their own limitations and mental boundaries.
The CCA gives cancer survivors the opportunity to do something magnificent by funding adventures similar to Sean's Everest Expedition. The CCA believes by offering this opportunity, the cancer community can provide hope and inspiration within itself by achieving pinnacles they never thought possible. Those battling the disease will see countless survivors climbing their personal "Everests" and acquire the strength and confidence needed to overcome their illness. Knowing that Sean is one person, CancerClimber's objective is to give other survivors the opportunity to circulate inspiration within the cancer community and use those experiences through personal and intimate hospital visits to help directly inspire those touched by cancer.

Zac York is a 19 year-old freshman at the University of Arizona. A little over five years ago, he was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor and underwent over 17 surgeries, radiation therapy, and numerous setbacks. The tumor left him unable to walk without assistance, and for some time he was wheelchair-bound. Now, after hundreds of hours of physical therapy, he is able to walk with crutches. The summer he was diagnosed, he was training to hike up Mt. Whitney (highest mountain in the lower 48 States) with his father. As a result of the cancer, surgeries, and hospitalizations, the hike was cancelled. However it was a dream he continued to hold onto, and Mt. Whitney became a symbol of hope for his future. Through incredible determination and sheer willpower, climbing Mt. Whitney on crutches Zac not only earns the nickname “Crazy Legs,” but also shows people facing challenges similar to his there is always hope during the struggle. The CancerClimber Association is honored to have been able to help Zac with his mission and become part of his life. He exemplifies why CancerClimber is so passionate about giving this grant, and in turn, hope from a survivor to a patient. Zac was also able to visit a local hospital and share his amazing journey with those battling for their lives. He truly is a hero to many.
